Food bank Demand Rises Nationwide As Holiday Season Begins

Food banks across the country are seeing rising demand, with some hitting record levels. About 65 percent of food banks reported an increase in the number of people served in October 2024 compared to October 2023, according to nonprofit Feeding America. For the 3rd year, our Food Pantry has received thousands of pounds of food from the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Led by the National Association of Letter Carriers on the second Saturday each May, the event has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive.
