Thank You, Westside Neighbors, for an Amazing August Block Party!

What a night to remember! We want to thank all of our Westside neighbors who joined us this August for our annual Neighborhood Block Party. Your smiles, laughter, and energy made the evening truly special.

From the moment the first snow cones and bags of popcorn were served to the last song of the night, the celebration was filled with joy. We enjoyed live music and the incredible beats of DJ Monk, bounce houses for the kids, and homemade hot dogs courtesy of Bobby — a big hit alongside the variety of food and desserts our community brought to share.

The kids had a blast playing mini carnival games with our team, and their excitement was contagious. Even though it was another hot and humid day, we stayed cool under the tents with plenty of ice, cold drinks, and water stations.

This year, over 200 neighbors came together to eat, dance, play, and connect — a true celebration of community spirit.

As we look ahead to next year, we’d love your feedback! We’ll be sending out a survey soon to hear your ideas on how we can make next year’s Block Party even better. Your input will help us continue to grow, improve, and keep building with the strong Westside community we’re so proud of.

Thank you again for being part of this unforgettable evening. Here’s to many more celebrations together!

Your Neighborhood Block Party Team

Because of your generosity, our second quarter was full of hope, growth and record breaking impact. Here are a few highlights! Earlier this year our Youth Employment Services program was at risk, but, thanks to your incredible support we were not only able to run the program, but expand the number of participants.
On July 25 and 26, our Other Way Ministries Youth Culture Club had the incredible opportunity to step out of the neighborhood and into a celebration of heritage, flavor, and community at Festa Italiana, held at Tanger Outlets. Our youth were welcomed with open arms — receiving festa money for treats, food, drinks, and access to the Kids Corner, hosted by our friends at Grand Rapids Sister Cities International.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news from one of our closest partners in serving our community — Matthew House Ministry has received approval to move into a new, expanded space on W. Leonard! This marks a huge step forward in their mission to support individuals and families who are struggling, and we couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.
