In addition, we plan to offer "How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk/Jerkette" two times in 2009.
This program teaches a way to build a healthy relationship that keeps the head and heart working together. It is designed to provide singles with a plan for pacing a relationship and exploring the key areas that foreshadow what that partner will be like in marriage.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
We are currently working to partner with and learn from other organizations in order to offer our Spanish-speaking neighbors the opportunity to learn to comprehend, read, speak and write the English language more proficiently.
As our community becomes more diverse, the demand for such classes continues to rise. In order to offer ESL classes in 2009, we are working with our partner and neighborhood congregation, Paz y Esperanza.
Life Skill Training
We offer our neighbors the opportunity to develop the life skills necessary for greater financial stability and building stronger relationships and a healthier community.
Financial Literacy Training
Many of our programs offer opportunities for neighbors to learn effective ways of managing finances - such as the Youth Employment Service or the Family Resource Co-op - however, finances is not the primary focus.
In order to create a more formal opportunity for neighbors to learn how to better manage their resources, we are working with Westown Jubilee Housing to offer Financial Literacy trainings.
Family Enrichment Classes
We currently offer Family Wellness courses four times a year. For information on Family Wellness, please visit this page.
