Leaders in Training
The L.I.T. program is made up of 4 or 5 teens each year who are striving to become Christ-like, cross-cultural, servant leaders in our community.
The program offers the teens the opportunity to discover and develop their leadership abilities for the purpose of positively impacting their families, schools, churches, and community. In association with the Grand Rapids Initiative for Leaders (G.R.I.L.), the L.I.T. program not only enables teens to lead in the future, but now.
Teens participate in weekly site trainings, retreats, monthly city-wide meetings with other G.R.I.L sites, and meetings with adult mentors. Paticipants are also expected to serve on a leadership board and volunteer in the community each week.
At the end of the year, the teens have the opportunity to go on a work trip where they put into practice the leadership abilities that have been developed over the course of the program.
The L.I.T. program is a perfect example of the indigenous leadership training that is taking place at "The Other Way" and in the Westown community.
